First 60 kW rapid chargers in Redcar and Cleveland

To celebrate World Electric Vehicle (EV) Day, we are pleased to announce the first 60 kW rapid chargers in Redcar and Cleveland are now live in Guisborough’s Fountain Street East car park.

These have been installed and will be operated by charge point operator, Believ. In addition, Believ has already installed EV chargers in Eston, Brotton, Skelton, Loftus and Redcar with more coming soon in Saltburn, Kirkleatham and Carlin How.

If there are other locations where you would like to see public EV chargers, please email GreenerFuture@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk. Although we cannot guarantee that Believ will proceed with suggested locations, due to several elements which need to be considered, we will add them to the list for consideration.

Councillor Carrie Richardson, Cabinet Member for Climate and Culture, said: “We are committed to supporting our transition to a lower-carbon future, and expanding the public charging network is a key part of that journey. I am delighted to see so many chargers installed in communities across the borough, with more locations planned in the coming months.”
