Global temperature rise
The ‘warming stripe’ graphic above shows the change in temperature in our area over the past 175 years.
Each stripe represents the yearly temperature with blue stripes showing cooler years and red stripes showing hotter years. The diagram starts at 1850 on the left hand side and runs through to 2024 on the right hand side.
This shows as simply as possible, how the temperature of the earth is changing as a result of global warming, how the threat of climate change is here, and how urgently it needs to be addressed.
These stripes were the brainchild of Professor Ed Hawkins (University of Reading) and were created in 2018, find out more and get involved at #ShowYourStripes.
